This is not my daughter or my dog

But it could be:

I have a little girl just a few months older than this child, and two Bernese Mountain Dogs. We have scenes like this all the time, but I have never managed to capture one quite so well. I do offer you this old pic of son #2 who decided to nap on our late, lamented Berner #1:

  1. I would never, ever leave a small child with a large dog.

  2. Very sweet, though I don't know about allowing the child to poke the dog like that kid did. Pretty risky.

One theory about those large alpine breeds is they were bred large to keep their owners warm at night. I love that.

  3. Hmm, that was pretty awesome! Dogs can be friendly and loyal to their masters, but they can also be fierce at times. So it is still practical not to leave a child unattended with dogs. We should remember that dogs can still be cunning and voracious like their ancestors the wolves.

  4. Dogs are some of the sweetest creatures on Earth. I love these pictures. They're so heartwarming. St. Bernard dogs are great with kids. I'm thinking of getting one.
