My daughter just moved up to a 1/2 size violin. My other daughter just moved up from a lever harp to a concert grand pedal harp... they grow up way too fast. The small string instruments are so cute... not the MOST pleasing to listen to when they practice ( with the exception of harp - when it is in tune, everything sounds good. )
I'm 30 and just had my 3rd cello lesson last week. It's a life dream come true for me though it often doesn't sound that way yet... I am so glad that my mother 'made' me learn piano and flute - it makes these lessons possible now.
About me: I am an ER physician and administrator living in the Pacific Northwest. I live with my wife and four kids. Various other interests include Shorin-ryu karate, general aviation, Irish music, Apple computers, and progressive politics. My kids do their best to ensure that I have little time to pursue these hobbies.

Thank you!! I needed to hear/see something like this today. Speaks to me as a musician, blogger, and overall human. :)
Saw that on College Humor about a week back; still blows my mind when I see it.
Kids with string instruments are so frickin' cute. And when it is your kids? Well, forget about it.
Awesome! Thanks for the clip.

Check out Lindsay Mac http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPk21U4W6Kk for a crazy different take on Cello playing.
Your son is adorable! I applaud you for suffering through the early days of a young cellist, my parents did the same for me.
