So First-born son lost his first baby tooth the other day. He went to bed, tooth tucked carefully under his pillow, and once he was asleep we went to replace it with some cash and my wife and I realized to our horror that we were fresh out of money! I had a $20, and that was it (and we agreed that $20 was way too much to pay for a tooth). Eventually we scrounged around and found a $5, which we thought was still a bit much, but it was quite literally all we had.
So how much should we give him in the future when teeth come out? I remember when I was a kid, the going rate was a quarter. But inflation and all that...
