Making me Laugh

Kung Fu Monkey:
There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

Oh man, I don't get this - come on Shadow.

I agree that Atlas is an outrageous story line that could based on many impossible suppositions, but why does everyone who is against it take to cheap humor about this aspect of it? I've never heard anyone actually discuss it with the idea of picking thing the larger picture items apart. I don't think Rand intended it as a bit by bit picture of reality, but the overriding themes are the bigger picture, don't you think?

Even if you don't agree with these themes, at least give credit that an author used a great story, albeit a bit ridiculous at times, as a vehicle for a large movement of thought.
