Good grief! My grandmother was born in Athenry and came to the US at the age of 18, to cook for a Boston family. I've never heard anyone mention that town outside of family. I stood in the streets of Atenry and tried to imagine how she felt as an 18 year old young woman leaving her birthplace. I was overwhelmed. I migrated from Boston, via various cities, to live here in Puget Sound. Thanks for the memories!
Thank you for this clip.
Does your mother happen to have black hair and blue eyes?
I have no family ties to Ireland, but I love the Dropkick Murphys.
I am from near Athenry and spent many freezing and wet days of my childhood accompanying my father while he sold cattle at the market there
