Hah! I do that all the time with cell phones. Haven't had a chance to upgrade yet. Must be our common problem of not waking the kids when leaving for a shift.

the mylite application! it slices, it dices, it basically just makes the screen all white with max brightness for use as a flashlight.
Also will put up a picture of a lighter for rock concerts and the like.

"Can it be used as a flashlight?" is the first line of consideration that Apple uses to decide whether an app can be registered in the App Store, according to this image:

I've used my Treo as a flashlight. :)
Haha - I have done that with my iPod at night. I listen to podcasts when I go to bed so it is on my nightstand. I have picked it up and used it as a flashlight to go exploring if I hear a creak or if the power goes out.
