A Mystery Solved

You may recall the gentleman who abused his rectum by inserting (or having inserted for him) various items not intended for anal placement. The one identifiable item ws a broken bar glass (note: it was not broken when it was inserted), but the other radio-opague item was more difficult to identify. At laparotomy, the surgeon discovered this:
And yes, that is a socket from a wrench set. It was, the surgeon reflected, the largest socket she had ever seen.

No, this is not a picture of the actual item -- it has been lost to posterity, down the biohazard bag, as it should be. The surgeon estimated the item to be at least 1.5-2 inches in diameter.

People are amazing.

  1. I am so glad that you solved the mystery before disappearing on vacation. I was dying to find out what those things were!

    People are nuts.

  2. Lost to "posterity". LOL.

People are "nuts". LOL. I don't think the socket set will work on those kind of nuts. Something via the oral route in pill form will likely do the trick.

  3. My question is...in what environment does one have a shot glass and a wrench set within arms reach?

That's like having an 8 track tape and a carabiner up there together!

(Unless you're drinking and working on your car naked I suppose...)

  4. Ah--now we know why they call it the "Pride" parade here when they walk down the street.

  5. Top items I have removed in my career:

    -billiard ball
    -tomato soup can
    -shampoo bottle
    -monkey wrench
    -cucumber (perforated intraperitoneal)
    -beer bottle

  6. Perhaps the wrench tool was unintentional.
    The recipient simply said,
    'Sock it to me."

  7. LOL, NurseK. Shadowfax, its a shame you couldn't have had it sterilized, I'm sure the boys in the shop are sufficiently.... open-minded? by now.

  8. I'm a doctor and in diagnostic laparotomy most often referred to as an exploratory laparotomy and abbreviated Ex-Lap the nature of the disease is unknown, and laparotomy is deemed the best way to identify the cause, especially in this cases... but I still wondering about it because it's an incredible story. 23jj
